Best Summer Nights
Las Vegas
Beach Concert Series
Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. S., South Strip, 702-632-7777 mandalaybay.com
The Draw: The urban beach at the Mandalay Bay has a wave pool, lazy river, and 2,700 tons of sand—not to mention al fresco concerts by the likes of the Bare Naked Ladies, Rick Springfield, and the Gypsy Kings The Scene: While the Mandalay tends to be on the swankier side, this beach party is all about casual fun (think board shorts and flip-flops, not designer bikinis and stilettos). And while the band sometimes heads to miX for an after-party, don’t expect groupies gone wild. Sat–Sun 9pm. Hot Tip: The best seats in the house are from the five Villas Soleil, which have private balconies overlooking the beach.
Party on the Rocks
Red Rock Casino, 11011 W. Charleston, Outskirts, 702-797-7777 redrocklasvegas.com
The Draw: Every Saturday night, Red Rock’s wildlife-inspired concert venue, the Rocks Lounge, hosts concerts by old-school rock bands such as Patti Smyth, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, and Modern English. The Scene: Mingle with locals and classic rock fans in skinny jeans and vintage tees. It’s adults-only, but plan to tap into your inner teenager. Saturday 10pm. Hot Tip: Gather a posse of eight and upgrade to the VIP experience—for $41.25 per person (about double the normal admission price), you’ll get prime seating in one of the oversized pods (kitted out with zebra-print chenille bedding) and a bottle of booze.
XS Poolside Sundays
Encore Las Vegas, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. S., North Strip, 702-770-0097 XSlasvegas.com
The Draw: Vegas is sweltering during the summer months—almost too hot to go outdoors during the day—but nights are pleasantly balmy and the perfect time for a moonlight dip at XS. The Scene: On June 6, XS opens its doors for a second season of night swimming, where servers trade in their bustiers for bikinis, and clubbers in Pucci cover-ups, Manolos, and seersucker suits sip cocktails while lounging on poolside cabanas. Sunday 10pm. Hot Tip: Though it’s a pool party, you’ll still need to dress to impress—and, as always, the more girls in your party, the better your chances of skipping the line.
