Bliss W Hotel, 930 Hilgard Ave., Westwood, 877-862-5477 blissworld.com
The Draw: You can watch movies during your manicure, pig out at the locker-room snack buffet, and lounge around after your treatment is done. The Scene: Clouds greet you at the entrance of the 7,000-square-foot space, which features shelf after shelf of Bliss’s popular skin-care products. It took ten years for Bliss to make it to Los Angeles, and spa-savvy locals continue to make up for lost time. Hot Tip: Weekends here can be a scene and the small space can get loud, even in treatment rooms. For serenity, book a morning massage or come during the week.
Kinara Spa 656 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-657-9188 kinaraspa.com
The Draw: The massages and manicures are predictably fantastic, but most people—numerous celebrities among them—come here for the custom facials. The Scene: The rooms are warm and dimly lit, the bowls in the manicure-pedicure area are built into the ground, and the 100-percent-cotton blankets you’re swaddled in are imported from Japan. Hot Tip: Come for a half-day treatment, starting with a massage, then a facial, and finally a manicure-pedicure. End with lunch in the cafe garden, and a little champagne—for therapeutic purposes, of course.
Ole Henriksen 8622-A W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-854-7700 olehenriksen.com
The Draw: Run by a Beverly Hills skin care guru, this spa offers homespun treatments such as effleurage massage with mango-cocoa butter and dry-brush exfoliation, and Swedish massage with anticellulite formulation, designed to whip your epidermis into shape. The Scene: Glowing candles light this lovely facility in Sunset Plaza. Japanese shoji doors glide apart between treatment rooms. Multistep body treatments include herbal washes, mineral scrubs, tropical rain rinses, and cranial massages. Hot Tip: Don’t leave before doing penance with a viciously divine salt scrub.
