Best Late-Night Eats

Miami

Jerry’s Deli
1450 Collins Ave., South Beach, 305-532-8030
jerrysfamousdeli.com

The Draw: Deli (and pretty much anything else you want) served round the clock in a whimsical Art Deco building in the heart of South Beach.
The Scene: This 1940 Henry Hohauser classic is complete with nautical motifs and cutout portholes. The massive interior is packed by day with tourists and by night with club kids warding off hangovers by gorging themselves on triple-decker sandwiches, patty melts, and blintzes, plus pizza, pancakes, BBQ, pasta—you name it. Wash everything down with a Cherry Cola (black cherry vodka with cherry Coke), or the non-alcoholic version. Service is eh, but portions are huge. 24/7. $
Hot Tip: Grab an outside table—the Collins Avenue location is a perfect vantage point for watching the South Beach eye candy passing by.

News Cafe
800 Ocean Dr., South Beach, 305-538-6397
newscafe.com

The Draw: For more than 20 years, the News Café has been the quintessential Ocean Drive hangout. Even after a fresh renovation, the same laid-back vibe persists.
The Scene: If there’s a place to hang out, the News Café is it: European models met here when SoBe was starting to take off; Gianni Versace ate here regularly and just before he met his tragic end; and locals and tourists stop off here for coffee, breakfast, a late-night panini, or a goofy cocktail. With a group? Even better. 24/7. $
Hot Tip: If you’re staying on the beach, walk down the beach to arrive instead of taking Ocean Drive—there the crowd moves slowly and you’ll be accosted by attractive shills in front of every café. Once you’re here, choose an outdoor seat for the best view in town.

11th Street Diner
1065 Washington Ave., South Beach, 305-534-6373
eleventhstreetdiner.com

The Draw: After a long, hard night of clubbing, the law says you must stop at this diner for a pre-hangover breakfast.
The Scene: Yup, this is a real, shiny diner from up north plunked down on Washington Avenue. Locals and tourists alike crowd stools and booths for true diner food, such as pot roast with mashed potatoes and string beans, and roast turkey with candied yams. 24/7. $
Hot Tip: Take a close look at that polished stainless steel—it’s the real deal. This 1948 diner opened in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and stayed there until it moved to South Beach in 1992.
