The Scene: This see-and-be-seen restaurant is a contemporary take on the traditional steakhouse, with leather banquettes, warm amber lighting, tabletop lamps on the bar counter, Sinatra playing in the background, and flawless service. In season, it’s so difficult to get a table that you can count on diners being famous, monied, or well-connected. Mon–Thu noon–3pm and 5:30pm–midnight, Fri noon–3pm and 5:30pm–1am, Sat 5:30pm–1am, Sun 5:30pm–midnight. $$$$ Hot Tip: Reservations are absolutely essential. The Scene: Not your clubby, stuffy steakhouse, Gotham Steak is light and airy, bounded with a stunning two-level glass wall of wine bottles, and featuring both indoor and al fresco dining. The steaks—American Wagyu, Brandt Farms, Niman Ranch—are grilled over hardwood charcoal, and then broiled to perfection. Oh, did we mention it’s in the oh-so-hot Fontainebleau? But unlike some of its clients, Meat Market’s beauty runs more than skin-deep: This is one serious steakhouse, with an impressive seafood menu to boot. The Scene: Quickly gaining a reputation as one of South Florida’s best restaurants, Meat Market is features an extensive menu that includes starters such as cedar-scented hamachi and entrees such as wild African pheasant and seared Florida grouper. But it’s the signature steaks that demand attention: tasty wood-grilled center New York steaks, Kobe tenderloins, and reserve cuts such as the 16-ounce Harris Ranch bone-in filet mignons with ancho and coffee rubs.
