Lowdown: This festival and parade is a major event on the gay calendar for locals and visitors
alike. Events are headquartered at gay clubs and bars on Bourbon Street and feature dancing, contests, variety shows, and other entertainment. The parade is as outrageously fabulous as you might expect — drag queens from across the country pack their best gowns for this parade — and it's
an event not to be missed.
When: Labor Day Weekend; the parade is free, and cover charges at bars and clubs vary (weekend passes providing VIP access to select events are available for $60, so order early online).
