New Orleans

Bridge Lounge
1201 Magazine St., Lower Garden District, 504-299-1888
bridgeloungeneworleans.com

The Draw: Bridge Lounge always has something going on to entertain the crowds of single young professionals. Tuesdays are bring-your-dog night, when packs of pooches roam the bar off-leash. A wagging tail and a wet nose can help break the ice when trying to meet that cute stranger.
The Scene: This dark, warehouse-type space on a quiet corner of the Lower Garden District attracts a bustling crowd every night of the week. In the sleek, candle-lit interior, fashionable regulars relax in the early evening, sip well-made drinks, and exchange phone numbers. It strikes the right balance between laid-back and utterly sophisticated.
Hot Tip: Many locals name Bridge Lounge’s mojitos as the best in town.

Le Phare Bar
Loft 523, 523 Gravier St., Central Business District, 504-636-1890
lepharenola.com

The Draw: Young movers and shakers dance to electronic beats at this lounge hidden inside boutique hotel Loft 523.
The Scene: Follow the stream of beautiful people down a dark side street to this ultra-sleek club. In the front room, lit with glowing masks on the walls, 20-something professionals dressed to be noticed unwind after a long day of work. The club books a regular roster of DJs with international taste. In the quieter back room, couples converse while incongruous animated movies play on the wall above.
Hot Tip: Every Wednesday Le Phare hosts a “Blush” party, which might be a tequila tasting one week and a fashion show or a dance competition the next.

Oz
800 Bourbon St., French Quarter, 504-593-9491
ozneworleans.com

The Draw: It’s ground zero for the gay scene in New Orleans and about as far from Kansas as you can get. Nearly every major gay event in New Orleans makes a stop at Oz.
The Scene: The music almost never stops and the doors hardly ever close at this hot French Quarter club that stays open round the clock. The rowdy crowds often spill on to Bourbon Street. From the calmer upstairs balcony, you can watch the skimpily clad clientele below or get lost in conversation with your new love for the night.
Hot Tip: Over-the-top drag shows are held every Sunday. Amateurs can strut their stuff at the Wednesday midnight drag contest.
