Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
1
The Lowdown: Viewed by millions via television every year, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators from Central Park to Macy's Herald Square store. Founded in 1924, this parade has become an American tradition. Politicians roll by on floats, while above their heads (and filled with just as much hot air), massive, awe-inspiring balloons of Spiderman, Underdog, and Bullwinkle drift below towering skyscrapers.

When: Thanksgiving Day; free.

Where: 77th St. (Central Park W. to W. 34th St.)
