The
Lowdown: Get the cinematic leg up on the world's
best movies before everyone else does. This San
Francisco institution has presented the best in world
cinema since its inception in 1957. The festival usually
showcases at least 200 new feature films and
documentaries from as many as 50 countries, with its
emphasis on current trends and international films that
have not yet secured U.S. distribution. Call ahead to
find out about films with a special celebrity
appearance.
When: Two weeks, beginning on a Thursday in late
April and continuing into May; admission is $12 per
program.
