» Toast New Orleans
We believe that life is a celebration, providing us with innumerable
excuses to make a toast. We have searched high and low for the
best places to toast in the world's Cool Cities.
The Scene: A striking couple at the bar is whispering in French. A cluster of friends winds down from the day with a round of single-malt Scotch. A favorite of sophisticated young professionals, this seductive bar with a Parisian vibe caters to oenophiles and refined palates alike. Daily 5pm-2am. The Clincher: The tiny kitchen also turns out some of the city’s most refined food.
The Scene: The decor comes straight from the Jazz Age. The bartenders in formal attire make old-fashioned drinks with crisp precision. When you savor a cocktail here, you’ll be stepping back to the era before Prohibition. Only steps from the madness of Bourbon Street, this quiet retreat caters to the revelers who don’t feel the need to raise their voices. Daily 6pm until close. The Clincher: Start a romantic evening here or, perhaps better yet, come here for one last post-dinner drink.
The Scene: Book a room at the Monteleone, or sneak past the doorman with a bottle, and raise a glass to New Orleans itself. The sixteenth-floor pool deck on the tallest building in the French Quarter is the ideal place to survey the city. It’s elegant enough to feel like a splurge, but not so stuffy as to discourage bad behavior. The Clincher: A night in New Orleans, and the fact that we still have New Orleans, is cause enough to celebrate.
